I am part Greek! I just learned not too long ago.

  1. whose estimate is it?as in which model? they can be pretty volatile, especially with the smaller percentages 😉

apparently I’m 2 percent Italian and 20 percent Iranian, and another model says I’m 15% French :/
At least they all agree I’m at least 40% Greek (some models call that “Eastern Mediteranean”)

If you can download your genome, feel free to upload it to GedMatch and use all the different models they have there, it’s pretty interesting in addition to whatever you did

  2. In Greece we somehow forget the Byzantine era. A part of history that mixed the Balkan cultures and as it seems, our genes to a certain extend.

  3. Hi friend. Unfortunately, these tests do not show your ancestry rather the similarities you share with the people in the designated area. For example, you might get a percentage from an area populatrd by arvanites, that might be Evoia for example.Well, that doesn’t make you a Greek but an Arvanite.

  4. Great…
    We need your address to
send you some taxes you didn’t pay for the debt of your mother country all those years.

  5. Maybe it dates back to the Phanariote rule of Wallachia, but then again it might be totally coincidental.

  6. Diversity is exactly why Greece was so democratic and creative. Greece was a trading confederation, never a nation, in antiquity. Phoenician Lebanese were first to colonise Mediterranean including Punics of Spain and Quechua (Aztec, Inca, Maya; cf noses and pyramids) of America. Moroccans felt they were reuniting with Andalusian Punics. Phoenician Mafia Vendetta style of conflict resolution in Mani and Crete is obvious. Minoans were Phoenician Arabs (Ann Hum Gen, 2008, 72,205-214), distinguished as being Semites from Asia not Africa. Ahiya were from Egypt, why Sparta got wheat from Sicily. Ionian Attics were Javan Scythians, which is why Athens got wheat from Scythia. Phillip, Alexander’s father, choked Athens by taking Byzantium. Carpathian Celts took Delphi 2c BC and became Galatians of Asia Minor who spoke Gaelic until 7c AD. Aeolians mingled with Carpathian Celts to become Thracian Vlachs. Dorians were Alpines who also mingled with Pelasgians to make Albanians. Everywhere Herodotus said there were Pelasgians, like Koropi near Athens, and Methana near Corinth, today are Arvanites. Trojans were undeniably Hittites, who appear with Mongolian Turkic Turanian slanted eyes on drawings. That is why the Trojan Romulus and Remus share Magog Volpomammic birth myth with American Indians and Uyghurs. Metaxas and Venizelos adulterated Herodotus and Thucidides for Bizmarkian nation building which still mess Greek minds. Hellenism was the original globalisation. The Mega Idea of Paul Melas was that whoever wanted to be a Greek, is. To restrict Greece to a tiny peninsula is to crush it.

  7. Bullshit estimates by a bullshit company.

Just show us the real results, like, for example, the autosomal, Y-DNA(only if you are male), or mtDNA. Then we will see how “greek” you’ll actually turn out to be….

  10. I am from Bucharest, I did ancestry DNA test and learned I’m 20%… Greek. My whole world has changed, I tried to commit suicide but couldn’t do it. Now I have to live like that. But after that I’ve decided it’s a Zionist game, I suggest people don’t do DNA test. It’s lie, because I’m 100% Romanian. thnx

  11. If you’re single OP you should increase the percentage for the next generation. We’ve got many malakes in the States. Not a bad idea to marry someone with Greek origin. I’ll toast to that.

  12. How on earth did that test seperate the Aegean islands from Greece?? lol. You may want to check its validity
