I’ll admit, I’ve never considered myself a fitness enthusiast, and when I spot Myprotein products on shop shelves, I usually assume they’re not for someone like me. But after sampling their frozen egg range, I’ve had a complete change of heart – I’m officially a Myprotein convert and there’s no turning back.
I recently had the opportunity to trial some of their newest products now stocked in Iceland’s freezer aisles, and I’m pleased to report there are some genuinely tasty options worth keeping in your own freezer. If you’re monitoring your macros or simply want more satisfying meals, protein-rich dishes are scientifically proven to keep hunger at bay for longer.
Stocking up on these ready meals could be a real time-saver when you’re too busy to cook from scratch.
Below are the products I sampled, ranked from least to most impressive, and there are definitely some I’d happily eat again.

Myprotein 350g Naked Cheesy Chicken Fajita, £4 (3 for £10)
Overall this lacked flavour, which is disappointing because there’s a subtle hint of spice lurking beneath.
The chicken chunks are respectable, and the cheese adds a satisfying element, but this was the only product I tested that I wouldn’t purchase again. 5/10
Myprotein 120g Cookie Crunch Layered Ice Cream
The Myprotein desserts genuinely exceeded expectations. They offer a clever way to clock up protein while enjoying something sweet – not something that typically springs to mind when tracking macros.
The Cookie Crunch bar delivered a satisfying sugar fix, though the cookie chunks left it feeling slightly dry, and the chocolate coating was on the thin side. That said, it’s understandable given the calorie count.
The creamy flavour was spot on, and even earned approval from a die-hard ice cream lover in the household. 7/10
Myprotein 550g Creamy Chicken Alfredo, £4.75 (2 for £8.50)
Initial concerns arose during cooking when the sauce appeared worryingly watery. Thankfully, it thickened up nicely and delivered a pleasingly cheesy finish.
This was a solid effort, though it could’ve benefited from more adventurous seasoning – perhaps tarragon – and the garlic could’ve packed more punch.
The chicken portion was generous, which seems to be a trademark of Myprotein meals; they never skimp on the meat.
That said, the chicken itself was somewhat bland, almost reminiscent of Quorn, though that wasn’t necessarily a negative.
All in all, this would make a very satisfying lunch option. 7/10
Myprotein 350g Mexican Style Chilli Beef with Rice, £4 (3 for £10)
This was a real winner, though the ‘three chilli peppers’ heat rating was massively overstated – it was far milder than advertised.
The beef had a lovely texture, and the cheese was well-proportioned. However, the overwhelming thought throughout was how brilliant this would taste wrapped up in a tortilla as a burrito. 8/10
Myprotein 120g Salted Caramel Layered Ice Cream Bar, £4
Much like the Cookie Crunch variety, this one really delivered. These bars were silkier and closer to traditional ice cream than their cookie counterparts, with a delightful hint of salt cutting through the caramel sweetness.
You could devour one of these and completely forget you’re boosting your protein intake – which is surely the whole point?
They are on the pricey side for just three bars, especially given their modest size. Then again, when you glance at supermarket shelves nowadays, everything seems costly. 8/10
Myprotein 450g Chicken Tikka Balti Bowl, £4.75 (2 for £8.50)
The flavour profile on this is genuinely impressive. There’s a wonderful balance of sweetness paired with a satisfying spicy punch.
The chicken is properly seasoned and all the vegetables are spot on.
Whilst the rice cooks perfectly, the tortilla bowl does become rather soggy at the base during heating. Personally, I don’t mind that texture – it’s almost as though the tortilla has absorbed all that gorgeous sauce – but I can imagine some diners might find it disappointing.
I’d happily have this again. 8/10
Myprotein 2 Pack Cheese & Ham Omelettes, £3
These initially made me apprehensive because they arrived completely bare in the packaging. Just sitting there, frozen eggs with nothing else – it felt peculiar, but I should have trusted the process more.
My air fryer offering emerged slightly overcooked after I neglected to flip them midway through, but despite this kitchen mishap, they were brilliant. A genuinely fluffy omelette that, with just a touch of salt, became utterly addictive.
My sole gripe? It could’ve been more generous with the ham. Definitely worth trying. 9/10
Myprotein 2 Pack Four Cheese Omelettes, £3
If you assumed Myprotein wouldn’t bag top marks, you’ve clearly not sampled the cheese omelettes yet.
Once more, I was stunned by just how exceptional these turned out to be – a triumph of contemporary frozen cuisine that could genuinely transform people’s mornings, particularly given how tricky it is to nail a perfectly fluffy omelette every single time.
Gloriously cheesy and ridiculously straightforward to prepare, if you’re after an effortless brekkie, look no further. 10/10
