Just waiting for him to come out with a nixon line at this point.
“Boris Johnson’s standards adviser says there is a “legitimate question” over whether the PM broke the ministerial code after getting fined for Partygate.
Lord Geidt said he repeatedly told the PM’s team to be ready to explain if his actions stuck within the rules – even if he thought there was no breach.
But he said the advice had not been “heeded”, calling on Mr Johnson to set out his case to the public.
The prime minister said he does not consider his fine to be a breach.”
from the Telegraph:
“MPs who violate ministerial code don’t have to resign, says Boris Johnson
New version of the ministerial rulebook makes it clear that the PM of the day can choose what sanction, if any, is handed out.”
The answer is that the rules were for plebs and Boris rewrote his own code to get out of breaching it….
Can we all just move on, whilst Boris singlehandedly wins the war in Ukraine and celebrates the jubilee with several imperial pints of warm piss and a few lbs of cheese whilst hosting an impromptu work meeting in his flat.
He luvs cheese.
Imperically or in metric, the guy is a lying duplicitous cunt.
Surely the title should be ‘Explain why fine did not breach ministerial code, Boris Johnson *asked*’?
> Writing to Lord Geidt, Mr Johnson said he had “no intent to break the regulations”
So, if I, for example, go above the speed limit or forget to pay a parking charge but with no intention to break the regulations, does it mean that there will be no consequences for me?
/s
EDIT: I would of course take full responsibility!!!11
Presumably it’s ‘asked’ not ‘told’ and he will just say ‘fuck you’ like he has done every other time he’s had to explain anything.
“Because I said it didn’t”
“People are sick and tired of this and want me to get on with running the country and to sort this cost of living crisis out. It is time to move on from Partygate and that is what I will be doing.”
People are not sick of Partygate and he will not move on to sorting the cost of living crisis out, however that is a good approximation of what he will say to avoid any scrutiny.
Basically:
Geidt:
> Blimey wait a minute guv, this ministerial code malarkey says you have to like not break the law and stuff, but you were caught fuckin red handed and copped to a fine, so what gives? Tell me something cos I look like a prick right now.
Johnson:
> My dear chap, this would only be a problem if I knew I was breaking the law and broke it in full knowledge of what I was doing, but the fact is, I simply had no idea that a mere drink and throw-up work meeting with valued colleagues undertaken in dogged pursuit of the purest ideals of good governance and the nation’s welfare could even be suspected of being deliberately misconstrued as lockdown rulebreaking. So you need have no concerns on my account; as an innocent child with unalloyed intentions, principled, upright, and immaculate, in the performance of the sacrosanct duties of my office, I did no wrong. In short, I knew nothing, you saw nothing, and no-one can say different. Also, I was informed at the time that the lunar substrate is formed of salted mature Lymeswold, and by the most qualified people on that topic.
Geidt:
> All right no need to lard it on I get the message and thank fuck for that I thought I might have to knock it on the ‘ead if you didn’t come up with some corker excuse like that. Nice wallpaper, mate.

(Edit: Based on the [ITV version](https://www.itv.com/news/2022-05-31/pms-ethics-chief-suggests-pm-may-have-broken-ministerial-code-with-fine) of this story, which I think has more detail on Johnson’s response.)
Because the rules don’t apply to Boris. Keep up.

Jerry, just remember: It’s not a lie if *you* believe it.
“If the Prime Minister does it it’s not illegal.”
I don’t understand why you wouldn’t be held accountable for the code as it was at the time the act was committed.
Rather like Partygate is a thing because Boris is being held accountable to lockdown rules at the time.
