MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The Ocean City-Wright Fire Control District Facebook page posted about a fire at popular business in Shalimar, Florida.
Here is the post:
Early this morning, Ocean City-Wright Fire Control District crews responded to a structure fire at Cheers Pub in Shalimar.
First-arriving units quickly located an active fire in the kitchen that had extended into the attic space. Crews initiated an aggressive interior attack to knock down the kitchen fire while additional companies coordinated ventilation and access. Once conditions changed in the attic, operations transitioned to exterior aerial master streams from Truck 2 and Fort Walton Beach Fire Department Truck 6 to fully extinguish remaining fire.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
While we are grateful everyone is safe, it’s difficult to see a long-standing local gathering place suffer significant damage. Cheers Pub has been a staple in our community, and moments like this remind us how important it is to support our neighbors as they recover.
We appreciate the quick teamwork and professionalism of all assisting agencies Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office (on scene and 911 dispatchers), Fort Walton Beach Fire Department, Okaloosa Emergency Medical Services – EMS, Eglin AFB Fire Department, Okaloosa Island Fire Department, and Valparaiso Fire Department, who helped bring this incident under control.
Our community has always shown up for each other and we know they will again.
