So, as some of you may be aware, the EU recently voted (2021) and published a new draft (2022) of legislation requiring *every* single operator of communications technology to implement [mandatory client-side mass surveillance and decryption backdoors](https://www.patrick-breyer.de/en/posts/messaging-and-chat-control/). This will presumably affect the operation of *all* chat programs, mobile operating systems, etc. in Europe.
Does anybody know how Norway will or won’t be affected by this, being a member of the EEA but not the EU? Is such abuse of mass surveillance technology unconstitutional in Norway?

Datatilsynet will probably tell the government its a violation of some kind. In reality its up to the politicians on how authoritarian or EU subservient they want to be.
