I’m looking to visit over Christmas time for 10 days with the primary goal of going to Tromso for the aurora borealis and reindeer sledding. I thought it would be cool to start out in Oslo, take the train to Bergen, then fly to Tromso, somewhat close to this itinerary https://www.dangerous-business.com/10-day-itinerary-norway-winter/
But without stopping for Flam. So two days in Oslo, three in Bergen and five in Tromso. Does that seem too crammed or would that give enough time to see a decent amount?

  1. Seems like a good plan –
    Oslo for party
    Bergen for more party
End the whole thing in Tromsø where the party never stops 🤣

Oslo in december is quite lame to be honest- 2 days would give you what we have here.

Bergen another two is sufficient – Flåm +1

Tromsø offer more experiences if you plan it properly
Borealis chanses is in flux so plan more days to up you chanse and fill the days with more stuff, skiing dog-sledge whale safaris – rib boat rafting .. or dark cellars with plenty of fludium 😁

  2. If you are not doing the stuff in Flåm, I would recommend going by domestic flight from Oslo to Bergen, rather than going by train. It will save you 8 hours (with the risk of delays due to snow).

In the winter I would rather do some hiking or boat trips in the areas around Tromso, such as the Lyngsalpene, or Lyngens alps as they are referred to in your article.

Maybe also consider a whale safari which was not mentioned in the article.
