After several dangerous incidents on Norway’s icy roads, authorities expelled a Chinese tourist, highlighting both the risks visitors face and the serious consequences their actions can bring.
A Chinese citizen has been expelled from Norway and handed a five-year re-entry ban following a serious traffic collision on the E8 highway in Troms last week, as reported by NRK.
The driver, operating a Danish-registered rental van, was fined 12,000 kroner after police footage showed him skidding into oncoming traffic on icy roads shortly before colliding with a lorry.

The collision was so severe that emergency services initially believed the driver was trapped, but later determined the van’s doors were wedged shut by the damage. There were no fatalities.
The investigation found several negligent acts before the crash. According to Nordlys, the vehicle had been recovered from a ditch earlier that night, and witnesses also filmed the van driving in the opposite lane for a significant distance.
The Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) moved with unusual speed, making the decision to deport the individual over the weekend.
Troms Police District stated that the driver’s multiple near-misses justified the expulsion.
As VG reported, being expelled from Norway can also mean expulsion from the entire Schengen area.
