UN agrees to change Turkey’s official name to ‘Türkiye’ Tags:Europe 20 comments Okay Turkey I’ve been using Turkiye for a while now but will reverse back to Turkey because they’re blocking us from NATO. Fuck off Erdogan. Yeah,no i am not bothering with adding umlaut every time i have to type about the neighbours. Nice, nobody cares. Türkei? Shall we rename 🦃 to Türkiye? Why not historical “High Porte”? No offence, but Türkiye still sounds like poultry. I’d it still pronounced like Turkey? Yeah im not changing my keyboard every time just to write one countries name. Turkey it is. I sincerely hope no one changes what they call turkey Turkyeeeeet As long as they’re happy. Turkey and türkiye will still be pronounced rather similarly. I think the name of the bird should be changed to Türkiye. What was it before? Just Turkey? Best I can do is Turkiye Is the Italian “Turchia” close enough? So, will the country behave better and be more reliable partner or something? Turkey giving Germany bad ideas… They have the right to ask for this, but it seems like a bad time in international relations to get much support for this change. I am thinking that in the US, this is likely to be widely-rendered as “Turkiye”, no umlaut. Leave a ReplyYou must be logged in to post a comment.
