* 500 Stinger anti-aircraft missiles. Both deliveries were decided by the German government only a few days after the start of the war and were delivered to Ukraine within a few days. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIM-92_Stinger
* 2053 short-range surface-to-air missiles of the type Strela-2. The delivery of the weapons from GDR production, which were still in storage with the Bundeswehr, was decided at the beginning of March and delivered in the weeks thereafter. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9K32_Strela-2
* 5100 anti-tank handguns of the type RGW-90. The modern anti-tank weapons, which are used by the Bundeswehr under the name of Matador, were purchased by Ukraine directly from the manufacturer and were delivered to Ukraine in two tranches from the end of March, following export approval by the German government. https://dn-defence.com/rgw-90/
* 1600 anti-tank directional mines of the type KN57 DM22
* 3000 anti-tank mines of the type KN55 DM31
**These promised deliveries are still outstanding:**
* 30 Gepard anti-aircraft gun tanks and around 60,000 pieces of ammunition. According to plans, the first of a total of 15 Gepard systems from 15 Gepard systems from German industry stocks are to arrive in Ukraine in July. Another 15 are to follow in the course of the summer. The Ukrainian crews of the tanks will be trained in Germany at Bundeswehr firing ranges by trainers from the manufacturer. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flakpanzer_Gepard
* 7 self-propelled howitzers of the type PzH 2000 . Delivery of the heavy artillery gun, which is mounted on a tank chassis, will probably begin in July. The delivery was decided at the beginning of May. At that time, the Netherlands had asked Berlin whether they could send five German-made howitzers to Ukraine. The German government then decided to put together a larger package and deliver seven systems. Ukrainian soldiers are currently being trained on the howitzer in Germany, but this is taking somewhat longer than initially hoped because of the complexity of the technology. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panzerhaubitze_2000
* Iris-T air defence system. The delivery was decided only a few days ago, Scholz announced it in the Bundestag on Wednesday. Ukraine had already requested the air defence system from the German manufacturer Diehl Defence in Berlin at the beginning of May, but a corresponding application for export was only approved a few days ago. According to the manufacturer, the system offers protection against attacks by aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles and short-range ballistic missiles. The delivery to Ukraine, however, will take several more months and will probably not take place until late autumn or winter. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IRIS-T
* Cobra radars. Not much is known about the details of the delivery. However, it is presumably also a direct purchase by Ukraine from the German arms industry. According to the Bundeswehr, Cobra is the world’s most powerful artillery tracking radar. The main task of the system is the precise localisation of enemy artillery, rockets and mortars. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Counter-battery_radar
This is interesting. In combination with the US HIIMARS this might stop mass bombardment by Russian Artillery.
Fuck these papers and these journalists. You are giving away sensible information that could cost Ukrainian lives for free to Putin just to turn the German people on its own politicians. People do not need to know everything during a war, the time for these stupid popularity contests is not now.
That’s all good, but the conflict has now entered a new phase. Most weapons that Ukraine has received so far (from everyone, not only from Germany) were effective when they had Russian tanks and vehicles deep inside their territory.
But now they are facing a slowly progressing artillery line coming from the Donbas region and that force can’t be stopped by shoulder-fired weapons. They need heavy equipment including tanks (got some old ones from Poland, but they need more), heavy artillery and rocket systems.
Germany is one of the countries that have pledged heavy weapons, including the Howitzer 2000, which I’ve heard a few experts saying is a very powerful weapon that can devastate enemy lines. Let’s hope Germany don’t use pledge and donate like Amber Heard and we’ll see these weapons in action in Ukraine soon. That combined with some PR should help Germany restore some face after their earlier indecisiveness, provided they avoid sitting on the fence when it comes to helping Ukraine in future.
