US President Donald Trump stated he discussed American arms sales to Taiwan during a phone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping and expects to make a decision on the matter soon.
“I have a response. I’m talking to him [Xi Jinping] about it. We had a good conversation, and we’ll make a determination pretty soon,” Caliber.Az quotes Trump as saying to reporters aboard Air Force One while flying from Florida to Washington.
He also commented on the trilateral talks on Ukraine in Geneva, expressing confidence they would proceed smoothly. Regarding negotiations with Iran, the president said Tehran understands the potential consequences and is interested in a deal with the US.
When asked about a possible military operation against Cuba, Trump declined to give a definitive answer.
“It wouldn’t be a very tough operation, as you can figure, but I don’t think that’ll be necessary,” he noted, adding that discussions with Cuba continue with the involvement of Secretary of State Marco Rubio. He said Cuban authorities need to make a deal with Washington.
Trump further stated that the Board of Peace will occasionally coordinate with the United Nations: I think they might aid us a little bit. But we have the greatest leaders in the world joining the Board of Peace, and we’ll be doing it in conjunction with, in some cases, the United Nations and see if we can get the United Nations to get on the ball.”
He also mentioned that he could mediate disputes between Saudi Arabia and the UAE, though he is not currently engaged in that issue, asserting he could resolve it “easily” if needed.
