After demolishing France 10-2 to lock up the top seed of the men’s Olympic hockey tournament, Canada learned on Tuesday that it would see Czechia in the quarterfinal today at 10:40 a.m. EST/7:40 a.m. PST.

It’s always significant when Team Canada takes the ice in Olympic hockey, but these 2026 Games have been even more special than usual as its the first time since the 2014 Games in Sochi that NHL players are back playing in the Olympics. That makes this the most high stakes best-on-best hockey tournament in 12 years.

Canada and Czechia had previously met in the tournament, a 5-0 win for the Canadians in both sides’ respective tournament openers. In general, Team Canada has ripped through the Olympic tournament, outscoring its opponents 15-3 in three group games played.

Always a player to watch, Canada’s Connor McDavid looks to be chasing history during these 2026 Olympics. The Edmonton Oilers superstar has racked up a Canadian record nine points through three games already and is on track to match or even surpass the record for most points by an NHLer in an Olympic tournament. Teemu Selanne and Saku Koivu are tied for the distinction with 11.

In a little bit of news on the Team Canada injury front, Josh Morrissey, who has missed Canada’s last two games after exiting Canada’s opener with Czechia with an apparent injury, practised Tuesday. Brad Marchand, who has been a healthy scratch the last two contests, did as well.

Sam Bennett and Nathan MacKinnon, who took a hit to the head against France, weren’t seen at practice Tuesday, but it’s nothing of concern, says head coach Jon Cooper, according to Sportsnet.

As we make our way to the highly-anticipated game, here’s everything you need to know about how to watch Canada’s men’s hockey team’s quarterfinal match today with Czechia.

Canada’s roster is loaded top to bottom — literally — with not just NHL talent, but star NHL talent.

The roster looks like something you’d put together for an all-star team or a dream fantasy roster.

There are question marks when it comes to goaltending, but that’s an issue that can be shored up by a solid defensive framework and Cooper finding a goalie who looks like he can get hot during the tournament.

Czechia’s Olympic hockey team features a solid mix of NHL pros and players who ply their trade professionally across Europe. Their best known players are likely former Rocket Richard trophy winner David Pastrnak, and dynamic forward Martin Necas, who has been hot during the Olympic tournament, tallying seven points (three goals, four assists). Their roster also features a trio of NHL goalies in Lukas Dostal, Karel Vejmelka and Dan Vladar.
