It would work for me if they were 1/4 of the size. That proportion would be fine, but this monster size that we Greeks serve in anything sweet really is ridiculous.
And no, before you ask, I CANT JUST EAT HALF damnit.
The last time I was in Greece was 1990. I vividly remember trying the κορνέ for the first time and immediately thinking “My god this is amazing”.
Due to circumstances beyond my control I haven’t been able to go back to Greece, but every time someone I know goes, I tell them to try a κορνέ. I always get a thank you from them.
I’m salivating now thinking about them. But alas, here in Australia I have never been able to find anywhere that makes them that comes remotely close to how good the Greek ones are. I don’t know what it is but the ones here are mediocre at best.
While these are indeed one of the best desserts, I have had very mixed experiences with it.
It vastly depended on the shop selling them(Duhhh, like all products).
Unfortunately I have had old dried up ones with minimal filling and absolutely godly ones, as fresh as they come!

Παλιά μου έλεγε ο πατέρας μου ότι επειδή το ψωμί έκανε κάτι λιγότερο από μια δραχμη αυτό που έμενε το έπαιρναν είτε παγωτό μηχανής η κορνε με σαντιγι

These aren’t exclusively only found in Greece. You can find these everywhere. They are called cream horns.

I don’t get it, is this something unique to Greece?
On special occasions when someone brings us some, i devour them. I don’t even care about the cream because most likely it is some generic cream but the outside… oh boy.

Θυμάμαι όταν ήμουν μικρός και πηγαίναμε στο χωριό, σταματουσαμε σε μια καφετέρια/μίνι μάρκετ που είχε τέτοια. Κάθε φορά έπαιρνα ένα γιατί μου άρεσε πάρα πολύ, όμως ποτέ δεν είχα καταφέρει να το φάω όλο επειδή είχε τόση πολλή κρέμα που εγκωνα!
