HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – The U.S. Space and Rocket Center is making national headlines for its planetarium after being named the No.1 planetarium in the country by USA Today.
The planetarium has been open for nearly seven years. Intuitive Research and Technology has partnered with the Space and Rocket Center to provide its award-winning visualization systems.
Leaders with Intuitive Research and Technology said the award honors the hard work put into making visitors feel like they’re actually in space.
“It takes a lot of effort to create visualizations that are these 3D representations of the universe that we can interact with in real time, represent the latest and greatest data from NASA or wherever, and try to provide a nice perspective, a contextualized experience of what we’re understanding in astronomy,” a representative said.
The team is thrilled to be honored with the award, but award or no award, there is still a lot of pride that goes into making the planetarium enjoyable, the representative said.
