EVANGELINE PARISH, La. (KALB) – The Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal announced the arrest of Daniel Fontenot, 35, of Turkey Creek on Thursday, February 19.
Fontenot was arrested following an investigation into a fire that destroyed a house in Mamou on January 3.

Mamou Fire Department reportedly responded to a house fire in the 1100 block of Railroad Avenue at around 3:10 p.m. on January 3. The house was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.
Later, investigators with SFM determined that the fire was started intentionally. Deputies with Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office identified Fontenot as a suspect and arrested him on Thursday.
Fontenot was charged with the following crimes:
One count of simple arsonOne count of simple burglary
