Hello,
I just found at home under a pile of old stuff 2 parking tickets from 2019 that I obviously didn’t pay.
They amount to € 24 each and were issued for exceeding the maximum parking time allowed.
I live abroad and never received any reminder by post.
Those infractions are “contraventions” (avertissements-taxes) and it seems the prescription is 1 year.

Can someone confirm? Thanks

I wouldn’t worry about them. I received some in 1998 on a U.K. registered car that I didn’t pay. I’ve lived in Lux full time since then and no one came calling ….. yet! 👮♂️🚔
From what I can make out from the relevant legislation, it works like this: you get the “avertissement taxé” and if you pay it within the prescribed time, you are not charged with a “contravention”. In your case, you have obviously exceeded the time-limit for paying, so there is no sense in paying now.
Not having paid you were/are liable to be prosecuted for “contraventions”. You are correct that the statute of limitations (“prescription”) for that runs out after a year, BUT (there is a but) if, within that one year, ” des actes d’instruction ou de poursuite non suivis de jugement” have been accomplished, then that stops and restarts limitation, and that thing can go on indefinitely, as long as a year has not passed from the latest “acte d’instruction ou de poursuite”.
So, as I see it, you can’t be sure to be in the clear. But I guess you will find out sooner or later if they’re after you. Alternatively, you can always try asking the “Parquet” if there’s any procedure running against you.
