A major retailer in Darlington has reopened its doors after a five-day closure for a revamp.
Shoppers have been welcomed back through the doors at the Iceland store on Yarm Road after the store shut at 4pm on Saturday, February 14 and reopened at 8am on Thursday, February 19.
It unveiled a refreshed layout designed to make shopping easier and faster.

Among the changes are two new self checkouts and wider, more spacious aisles aimed at improving access and cutting queues.

One customer told The Northern Echo: “It is good because I have limited mobility and it has been helpful for me to get round.
“I don’t use self checkouts but I know it will help people with smaller shops and reduce the wait times at the bigger staff checkouts. It is always good to see things improve.”

The upgrade is part of a wider programme of improvements in Iceland’s across the town.
Another Iceland store in the town is also set for a refit next month.
The branch at North Road Retail Park will close at 4pm on Saturday, March 14 and reopen at 8am on Thursday, March 19 following its own refurbishment.
