I do find it kinda bad faith that media always portrays it as a medicine “for horse”. It is extremely widely used as an anti parasitic drug in a lot of 2nd and 3rd world countries and is generally regarded as en extremely succesfull drug.
HOWEVER it is 100% correct that there is absolutely no proof that it helps in protecting against Covid-19.
It’s just not needed to call it a drug mainly used for horses, just say it’s a drug not proven to work agains Covid, no need to give any no-sayers fuel with this bad faith rhetoric…
I have read somewhere that scientists noticed it had an effect in a test environment, but the concentration they needed for that result was more than a lethal dose or something.
Because delivering a lethal dose of a medication isn’t very useful they abandoned the ivermectin relate research.
I really hope they’ll lose votes on this nonsense. The antivaxxers in flanders might be loud, but they’re a really small minority.
Completely anecdotal, I know an at risk patient for Covid who has been a VB voter for quite some time. He’s quite confused by that flemish parlementarian who called for not wearing masks anymore. Hopefully he’ll see the light.
Ivermectin is pointless against covid itself, I’ve read that for some it has helped with symptoms, but not as an actual cure, and even that research is very limited.
Having said all that, It’s not only a horse dewormer, though. It is used as an antiparasitic on humans also.
It’s no surprise that VB has a couple of Joe Rogan -followers and hope to get some of his followers to vote for them, I mean, they’re all in that cryptofascist echo chamber already.
