People like Steven Van Gucht and Danira Boukhriss are probably in the 100-300k section also mentioned in the article? Ben Crabbe probably doesn’t have an exclusivity contract but just a contract between his company and VRT.

And then people complain that CEO’s are earning too much.
typical bullshit argument for VRT/Government to justify this overspending:
“Well, if we don’t pay a decent/high wage, these quality employees will just go look for a job elsewhere in the private market, and we will be left behind with less experienced and less known employees that will not guarantee us the quality and amount of viewers we need to retain X-amount of subsidies..”
Ie.
* these overpaid and overrated asshat presenters are greedy as f*ck
* it is clearly no longer an honor & very respectable on your resume to work for the state broadcaster
* in stead of providing the state broadcaster with a preset solid annual funds, it’s now primarily important for them to get X-amount of viewers in order for them to retain certain levels of subsidies every year.. I’m aware this is an understandable (measuring & motivational) tool in order to push for certain quality and so on, but it just indulges overspending for greedy employees just like this.. and to know that only recently dozens of people at the state broadcast were told they were going to let go, due to budget cuts.. all the while these “elite”presenters get paid so much, they themselves knowing full well their wages are part of the reason that others are getting fired..
As long as it’s not public knowledge exactly how much VTM people are paid, I don’t see why I should be outraged at this.
The whole point of this news article is to make people think VRT is exaggerating.
Without offering a point of comparison.
Which is pointless.
The only national TV station in the world that can’t be arsed to make breakfast TV. Not that this is a bad thing.

So? This is just another attempt by the private media companies to further destroy the VRT. They’re already forcing the VRT to hand over big IP’s to Streamz, so the private companies can make money of our taxes. They’re gutting the VRT budget. Now they don’t want the VRT to hire anyone famous anymore?
All so they can make more SHIT tv?
