UK pornography company fined €1,54 million for failing to check age.

The UK media regulator (Ofcom) has fined pornography company 8579 £1,35 million (approximately €1,54 million) for failing to implement age verification systems for users. The fine was announced in a statement from Ofcom.

“The company must immediately implement a highly effective age assurance system, or it will face a daily penalty of £1,000 (approximately €1.140),” the statement reads. A further fine of £50,000 (€57,000) has been added to this fine because the company failed to respond to a request for information from the authority. “We will impose a daily penalty of £250 (€285) until the company responds, or for 60 days, whichever comes first,” the statement specifies.
