They look exactly like Mexican tacos, except adapted to Norwegian tastes and available ingredients – just like all the tacos in Mexico are adapted to the places they’re made.
I’d guess the stereotypical Norwegian taco consists of:
Minced meat with tex-mex sauce
Shredded cheese
Sliced or diced tomatoes
Sour cream
Salsa (not too hot!)
Some kinda greens, usually iceberg or romaine lettuce
Norwegian tacos varies greatly. You get some people who make a very simple and “cheap” version, some people who try to be as authentic as possible, and most fall somewhere in-between. Though do remember that “Norwegian tacos” are pretty much a separate dish from true Mexican tacos. Think of it how French fancy cheese is very different from cheddar or whatever Americans put in their macaroni.
Not at all like a real taco. More like a burrito but with less authenticity.
I am visiting Norway soon, and I am also very interested in seeing Norwegian tacos. Can anyone post any pics?
