Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has stated that Britain and France are seeking to draw closer to Ukraine by “manipulating the issue of nuclear weapons.”
The TASS news agency reported on Wednesday, February 25, that Zakharova made these remarks in response to a report published by Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service.
The report by Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service claims that London and Paris are considering transferring nuclear capabilities to Ukraine.
Zakharova stated: “Britain and France are manipulating the issue of nuclear weapons not just in words but in practice, and have entered into a game with the Kyiv regime in this regard.”
She also accused Western media of diverting global public attention to peripheral issues in order to conceal the significance of the matter.
Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesperson, had also declared that the intention of France and Britain to supply nuclear weapons to Ukraine constitutes a violation of international law.
Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council, further stated that if Britain and France were to provide Ukraine with nuclear weapons, Russia would have the right to carry out a nuclear strike in Ukraine and against the supplying countries.
