> “No one respects contracts and you never know what your hours are,” he says. “You have to work till closing time but you don’t know when that is and you end up working a lot of unpaid hours.”
> According to the UGT trade union, the average monthly salary in the sector is €1,264, not a lot more than Spain’s €1,000 minimum wage.
Stigma my ass…
Let the owners serve themselves if they don’t want to pay the staff fairly. Same shit in Greece.
Same in Portugal.
Cause consequence.
It’s the same everywhere, nobody wants to get treated like shit, get dumb-hell long working hours for a misery of a wage.
Rise the wage, you will get the waiters. But they don’t want that, they want to suck the life out of people and turn it into cash. Keep that stance and you will close.
“There are 50 willing to take your job” They said. They have been treating people like shit years and years. Not going to cry for them.
I remember a friend of mine, got a job as a waitress and business owner made her a contract mean to be for dissabled people, because it is subsidized, but it was only for 4 hours a day. Owner said “the other 4 hours in cash”, without taxes of course. When she realized told him to fix it or she would quit. She left but owner threathened her “I promise you won’t have a job in hospitality in this region ever again”.
Now that guy is on local media crying that people “don’t like hard work”. Fuck you.
