Austria order its whole population to get vaccinated as of Feb. 1, its government said on Friday.

  1. Well, at least it will be the first country wide experimentation of mandatory vaccination. Let’s see if with that it actually manages to kill Covid.

If it does, then I’m good with other countries following the approach. If it does not… well 💀

Thank you for doing this for us Austria 💪

  2. The current path just doesn’t work, this is the right path. Mandatory Vaccinations are not something new, a lot of countries have them (smallpox etc). It’s not that democracy dies when you restrict freedom a bit, a lot of countries restrict your freedom when it hurts the freedom of others (speech, smallpox etc.). I think a good idea would be a country-wide vote on an mandatory vaccination, to give it more democratic legitimacy. But I fear the very vocal minority, they might dominate the discussion.

  3. All other questions aside, doesn’t the timeline of this render it pointless? Feb 1 is 2.5 months away. By then the current wave is going to have done whatever it’s doing. This cannot be called a preventative measure for current conditions.

  4. Not sure what to think of it. On the one hand i don’t think the government should be able to force people to get vaccinated but on the other hand i see the low vaccination rate in austria (and other countries)… Tough situation. Best of luck to our brothers in the south.

  5. My country conspiracy theories are going off the charts.

I am really worried that the Austrian antivaxxers are moving to Romania.

    Christ…

What’s next? Legalization of weed? Legalization of prostitution? Closer ties to Japan for better and cheap anime? A push for nuclear energy?

  6. It’s funny how the accusations of FaSciSm because of mandatory vaccination come from people who, at least here in Italy, are actually far right voters. If this was actual fascism, they should be happy.

  7. Finally. So happy. Fuck the moron Antivax folks, they already destroyed enough over the last 2 years. Fuck all of them.

  8. I’m glad a country has the balls to do this. I’m sick and tired of this continuous lockdown rollercoaster, I hope it pans out well for them.

  9. Congratulations to all the morons that were arguing against a vaccine mandate. Thanks to you we got a vaccine mandate *and* a lockdown.

And lots of unnecessary deaths, of course.

  10. Being anti mandate isn’t the same as being anti vaxx.

This over reach by governments is just another little step to erode another freedom: the freedom of choice. But ya’ll conflate the two above and anybody who speaks out is put in the conspiracy theorist camp in order to silence the critical thinkers as tin foil hat wearing paranoid idiots.

When our last freedoms are eroded ya’ll will say ‘why didn’t anyone speak up’ when they did and the government didn’t have to do anything to silence them because ya’ll done the work for them.

Governments prove every god damn day that they don’t have our best interests at heart, but ya’ll keep doing as your told, it will be at the expense of your offspring and there’s and so on.

And most of ya’ll are doing the governments for them with this attitude. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

  11. So what are they going to do to people who refuse the vaccine? Shoot them with syringes? I’m all for vaccines, but this kind of feels wrong.
