An Iranian ballistic missile impact killed nine people and wounded nearly 50 people, including several children, in the Beit Shemesh area, west of Jerusalem, in the Islamic regime’s latest missile barrage launched at Israel on Sunday.
At least four apartment buildings were destroyed in the attack, Israeli media reported, adding that the Iranian missile reportedly penetrated through a shelter in the vicinity.
Some 30 ambulances from Magen David Adom were dispatched to the scene, while the IDF said that Home Front Command Search and Rescue teams, combined with numerous medical forces and a helicopter to evacuate the wounded, were operating at the scene.
The IDF also said that the early warning system functioned as planned and was activated in the impact area, while the situation was being investigated.
National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir visited the Beit Shemesh impact site on Sunday evening, according to United Hatzalah.
A separate impact was registered in central Israel.
The woman was evacuated to the emergency department at Sourasky Medical Center’s Ichilov Hospital, Tel Aviv, after experiencing shortness of breath while making her way to a safe room. She was transported by MDA as resuscitation efforts were underway. Despite the medical team’s efforts to save her, doctors were forced to pronounce her dead.
Magen David Adom (MDA) responded to one hit in Israeli territory, near Highway 38 in Beit Shemesh. According to the report, people were only slightly injured, with no one needing hospital evacuation for further treatment.
The Health Ministry reported that, as of 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2026, a total of 456 people have been evacuated to hospitals since the start of Operation Roaring Lion.
No other casualties were reported by MDA, with responders addressing injuries that occurred as people were on their way to protected areas, but not related to any missile strikes.
