PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Portland Thorns have reportedly found their man.
According to ESPN, the team has finally hired its new head coach, just two weeks before the regular season starts.
The Thorns have hired Robert Vilahamn as their new man in charge. He comes to Portland after being fired from Tottenham last June.
Most recently, his team finished 11th place in the Women’s Super League. His first season with the team, he led them to a 6th place finish in the WSL and an FA Cup final.
The Swede is still awaiting his visa, per ESPN.
It’s unclear if he will be on the sideline for the Thorns’ season opener on March 13.
This comes after Bob Gale was fired as Portland Thorns’ head coach back in November despite the team reaching the NWSL semifinals. This is the Thorns’ fourth head coach in five years.
