I am a Brazilian guy moving to Bratislava with my family. Ask me anything.

  1. Now, some stereotyping.

Do you like dark roast or light roast coffee? Do you have preferred coffee farm or coffee brand? How do you prepare coffee?

  2. When exactly are you relocating? I feel like Bratislava is the most beautiful between August-October (sometimes in late sept or early oct, the temperatures drop from 20s to 10s but then for couple of weeks jump back to higher 20’s – slovaks call it “babie leto”, one of the nicest time during the year)

Also do you experience snow/how many times have you experienced proper snowy winter?
Wishing you all the best in my hometown

  3. Welcome 🙂 I hope you will like it here. In the beginning it can be hard to get use to a big change.. I’m a Slovak, married to a Brazilian, living in Bratislava. So reach me out if you will have some questions or will need help with something

  4. Don´t stress about the language too much, it can be a lot. We appreciate if foreigners try to learn even a little bit 🙂 best of luck.

  5. hey man … welcome and dont worry, ppl do frown, but are usually okay and friendly..

just be prepared, that food here will taste bland and not really creative ..
luckily, in Bratislava you’ll find better cuisine than in the rest of country (mostly) … and when in real need, Vienna is really close with bigger comunity 🙂

  6. What part of Brasil are you from? Have you been preparing for the change of the climate of your home (if there is going to be any?) Have you maybe looked up some community of Brasilians living in Slovakia? Have you started learning the language beforehand?

  7. I highly recommend for you to work in Austria. Far better wages. And it is really close to Slovakia. Beware of homeless people in Bratislava train station and try to reason with taxi drivers (if you use one) i highly recommend mobile app bolt for them or they will scam you. Be careful around some people bcs Slovaks are not the most tolerant people to the foreigners. And don´t take it personally when someone is mean to you. Whole eastern Europe is like that, we find it hard to be at ease when near strangers so we often look upset.
