Sveiki! Es mazliet runāja Latviešu Valoda!

That isn’t the extent of my Latvian; but it’s the extent of which I’m comfortably confident in sending out into the internet of more learned Latvian speakers than I. I’m an American who has fallen in love with the Latvian language culture. I’ve challenged myself/ been challenged by a Native Latvian friend that I can’t learn the language. I listen to https://open.spotify.com/playlist/78fFrMgOpcD6I85OoRY0QQ?si=brx39V7_SkCY4-G3nmg41g as well as https://youtube.com/c/GermaneAnete videos almost daily to familiarize myself with the language. I’ve also purchased https://www.waterstones.com/book/latvian-in-three-months-a-concise-course/d-dumpe/9789934003424 and am starting that as well. However I feel like I’m struggling with pronunciation and overall declining in general. My friend has returned to Latvia for the summer and she will be back in mid August; I’d like to understand some of what she’s saying by then. If anyone is willing/capable to teach me/answer questioning I have as I learn I’d be more than accepting of it and forever grateful. I’m even willing to offer payment if you’re truly capable of helping me grasp this difficult but beautifully visceral language. Thank you in advance.

  1. Songs are really helpful in learning new languages- try to find a Latvian song you like and listen to it. Then try to sing it! You will get the pronunciation right and a lot of new words.

  2. I have a friend who is professional Latvian language teacher. If you want I can ask about online lessons for you. Just one thing – it is her job so it would not be for free.

  3. Good luck dude, I have been speking it my whole life and still sometimes mess up, btw on june 23/24 we have our biggest yearly holiday, if u want leran about the culture u should try to celebrate it

  4. “Es mazliet runāju latviešu valodā” would be the correct spelling but everybody will still understand it the way you said it
