Russian propaganda outlets have once again intensified a disinformation campaign around the alleged sale of NATO weapons by Ukraine on the black market.

The information is being spread in Telegram channels, citing unnamed sources within Russia’s security services.

“Russian outlets are actively spreading news that Ukrainian Defense Forces commanders ‘write off Western weapons as lost’ and then sell them. They provide no evidence for this, citing only unnamed sources in the Russian security services.”

Facts and Context

The Center for Countering Disinformation notes that such baseless statements are a typical form of disinformation that Russian propaganda regularly pushes into the information space, including at Western and global levels.

Such messages aim to undermine trust in Ukraine and complicate international support for our state. According to the Center for Countering Disinformation, monitoring the use of Western weapons has not revealed any violations.

Such scenarios have appeared in the information space before: in August 2025, Russian propaganda outlets also tried to play up the topic of allegedly illegal weapon sales.
