Legal cannabis gets the green light in Germany – leafie

  1. >A recent report by the Institute for Competition Economics (DICE) at the Dusseldorf Heinrich Heine University, found that a legalised cannabis market in Germany could add around 3.4 billion euros in tax revenue to the nation’s economy, and save around 1.3 million euros in police and court costs.

    >The parties believe legalising and regulating cannabis will remove cannabis from the hands of criminals in the black market, meaning that young people can be protected from exposure and people are no longer criminalised for cannabis use.

  2. The irony of neighbouring countries lobbying for years to suppress cannabis sales to internationals in NL, only to legalize it sooner.

  3. Will be interesting to see the interaction with the legislation here in France where we are nowhere near this.

  4. Agree with others, no-brainer, not only compared to other existing, legal drugs, but also considering why it was made illegal in the first place.

Anyway, did anyone read about a specific timeline?

  5. The more i hear good news from all our neighbouring countries, the more i feel i will never see it happen in mine. At this point, i feel even the Vatican state will legalize weed before us.

  6. More and more I get the feeling that legal weed will turn out to be the only change to society brought on by this new “left wing” government.

  7. Please dutch government, please use this to *finally* change the law on growing cannabis. They still haven’t fully legalised weed in the netherlands with one reason being given that in germany and other european countries it’s illegal and it would cause problems with smuggling etc. Well, here’s our chance to have actual normal laws instead of a law that makes it illegal but we just don’t really enforce it on sellers. They can’t use germany as an excuse anymore.

  8. I’m so happy! I hope this will make Denmark re-consider, especially because it will create cannabis tourism, and if we don’t want to spend a shit ton on checking people at the border, we should legalize.

  9. I have zero problem with this but can we, like, develop a version that doesn’t smell really bad? I don’t care if people do it but can’t they make it smell nice, like mint or something?
