PINE RIVER

— A new opportunity for people to come together to learn about the changing climate and build resiliency will take place this spring in Pine River.

The University of Minnesota Climate Adaptation Partnership and the Initiative Foundation will co-host the Community Climate Leaders Program with Happy Dancing Turtle.

“We’ve experienced some exceptionally warm weather this winter in the area, and maybe you’ve noticed changes in other seasons as well,” Happy Dancing Turtle’s Executive Director Quinn Swanson said in a news release. “This is a chance to meet folks interested in how we can work together to weather (if you will) these changes.”

The program will consist of four in-person evening sessions at Happy Dancing Turtle in April and May as well as an online curriculum.

Learn about the changing climate, what it means for Minnesota, and what you can do in your community to build resiliency.

This program is being offered on a sliding fee scale so that more people are able to participate. For more information about the program, cost and dates, visit

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of “Pineandlakes Echo Journal.” Often, the “Pineandlakes Echo Journal” byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
