Speaking at the “EU and Turkey in the New Era” Meeting, CHP Chairman Kılıçdaroğlu announced the EU map. Listing many items, Kılıçdaroğlu said, “Turkey should not be put in the position of a country that has to keep asylum seekers in terms of refugees and asylum seekers. We would expect Turkey and the EU to approach the refugee problem by assuming joint responsibility and burden.”
CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu spoke at the Maltepe Forum “EU and Turkey in the New Era” Meeting in Maltepe. Explaining his party’s EU roadmap here, Kılıçdaroğlu also listed its items.
The highlights of Kılıçdaroğlu’s statements are as follows:
As the Republican People’s Party, we consider full membership to the European Union among our goals.
We believe that Turkey should take a role and contribute to this rebuilding process of Europe. In this process we are going through, we believe that the EU roadmap should be as follows:
1- The visa liberalization process needs to be accelerated.
2-Turkey should set the Green Deal as a priority target.
3-23. Judiciary and Fundamental Rights and 24. Justice, Freedom and Security, the blockage placed on these chapters should be lifted. In this regard, Turkey should not be left alone against the opposition of Greece and the Greek Cypriot Administration. Undoubtedly, Turkey, that is, we must fulfill these chapters. We are also aware of this.
4- The anti-terror law should be reshaped according to the norms of international law.
5- Transparency in the public should be prioritized and the necessary infrastructure should be established for this.
6- It should be ensured that the board established for the protection of personal data and personal data is fully independent.
7- For the modernization of the customs union, Turkey and Europe should fulfill their mutual obligations.
8- Policy moves should be made to prevent Turkey from being isolated in the Eastern Mediterranean regarding energy security. EU countries should not act under the guidance of GASC and Greece. We must rightly ask. Why is Turkey not included in the Eastern Mediterranean Natural Gas Forum? Turkey has to get the answer to this question.
9- Regarding refugees and asylum seekers, Turkey should not be put in the position of a country that has to keep asylum seekers. We expected that Turkey and the EU would approach the refugee problem by assuming joint responsibility and burden.
Eu must be a goal for Turkey. But with 10m refugee it does not seem possible.
Huh? Maybe Europeans ahould also pull down their pants and offer their arses?
Definately gonna happen when turkey blocks sweden and finland from joining nato /s
Damn. We don’t care about Europe. First you defeat Erdogan in the elections and save us from him. Erdogan has been ruling us for years because we have an incompetent opposition leader like you.

Not gonna happen in the next 30 years.
Can this guy actually win?
Btw this guy has said he will occupy Thessaloniki in less than 5 ours. Good luck!
Well. If they will meet the criteria to join, someday, then Turkey is more than welcome.
But that will require some massive changes to the very core of Turkish politics and ideology.
I believe Kılıçdaroğlu is underrated and there’s a general prejudice against him both in Turkish public and in this sub by other Europeans, in Turkey he gets blamed for not being an extremist or populist enough while in this sub I’ve seen people call him far right. He is actually much more compatible with modern values than any other mainstream Turkish party and he transformed CHP from an elite group of Republicans backed by military into a much more moderate and pro-minority social democratic party. The guy is literally from [here](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dersim_rebellion).
Erdogan with his ultranationalist MHP alliance constantly run a lying campaign of blaming him for helping or negotiating with HDP (according to them are terrorists, kurdish separatists) which unfortunately, effected the public opinion.
While he has some populist remarks I disagree with, if he becomes the president no doubt Turkey will be a much better place regarding human rights, freedom of press, economic policies, public services and especially education.
“Turkey and the EU would approach the refugee problem by assuming joint responsibility and burden”
Just send Them back to Syria, we dont want Them. We should not take responsibility of Them.
😂 good to have dreams, hopes…delusions
EU Cafeteria: Uhm yeah…sorry but THIS table is full
Turkey: *gestures at open reserved seats* offers döner, kofte and a side of inflation, nato extortion, threats to Greece, Syria, Cyprus….and offers to de-byzantine enemies etc.
EU Cafeteria:*flagging down Croatia & Shooing🦃* ….sorry could you, could you just scoot over there with the other broke bullies. Kay thanks Byeeee
Lmao, keep dreaming. As long as you occupy EU territory you ain’t joining EU.
I admire their renewed efforts to enter the EU – But it will never sit well with some people in Brussels because a) Turkey entering the EU would mean that a solution to the Cyprus question would be needed and b) I’m not comfortable with the fact that the EU’s borders will be extended to hotspots like Iran, Iraq and Syria
Maybe membership in the EEA would be more suitable for them
This is the same guy that says he will invade Greece. Not really an EU membership path.
Turkey will never enter the EU. Having EU norms, democratic values etc (which not all EU members have though) is a good thing. But other than that Turkey should stop dreaming about joining the EU.
A good start I guess….Turkey sure should join at some point but we will see how they implement these changes
No. Thank you.
Give back the stolen Ukrainian grain and stop being a dick to your neighbors maybe?
“Bad EU doesn’t want us. Greece bad. Syria bad. Sweden bad. Finland bad. France bad. USA bad. Oh the misery, everybody wants to be our enemy. The West is envious and they hate us, that’s why you guys are poor AF. Only the totally fair government can save you. Vote for us.”
Even if Turkey does not make it to the union, it does need to return to European values and fast.
