Good question, idiotic whataboutist answer. Europe not condeming some attrocities doesn’t mean India eating putins ass is ok. We do have putins ass licker countries in Europe too though.
Condeming Butcha means nothin if youre proceding to give money to russia. Yes, Europe does that too.
A question from the perspective of the asker, an answer from the perspective of the answerer. The drama on the internet is probably because those perspectives don’t intersect very much, and then you get these “oh, look how arrogant the westerners are” and “those easterners are making friends with the bad guys, and we’re just being forced to do the same, poor us”.
So I think they both did quite well.
I really liked the answer for the reason that the question was too loaded for a discussion, so the answer neutralised the aggression. However, answering the question, he didnt touch the exact point, why does India support sovereign nations being attacked? Because Europe didnt do something for India in the past?
Yes, you dont trade stance for stance, I agree with him in that. And if you are condemning Bucha, why aren’t you condemning the war? Whats the logic of this?
Is russia attacking Ukraine fair in India’s eyes? This was not answered.
Cool dude.
Where’s the destruction? ‘Condemned’ Russia’s actions in Bucha but still continues to support the war by maintaining close economic relations with Russia? Guess bending over for everyone and everything that they consider as favourable is an *epic gamer move* now. Weak.
Provocative journalists often get shut down, nothing new, similar terminology is used when addressing germany or france. Don’t agree about the europe being silent on asian matters, pretty sure uyghur genocide issue is very loud.
Very general, broad, sensational and provocative question, and a tactile, decent answer. Honestly, I hate questions like that, because they always follow the assumption that nothing is getting done, that the party answering the question is not doing much, and really, that’s about it.
I don’t know the full stance of India, but I can get an idea of it from your answers here. And I completely agree with a neutral stance. However, if we’re comparing it to LTs stance, it’s bad in terms on what Lithuania has done (for a small country, we gave a lot of donations to UA, we’ve been very vocal on it, we were first to issue a statement that RU is a terror state, we even managed to cut the energy, gas supply from RU, pushing a point that if we can do it, believe me, you can do it too.), however we had the capabilities in doing so. India probably has not, and that’s just what it is. In fact India has done more than some of the shit hole countries here in EU, that somehow managed to support the war, and blame the EU on it. However, let’s not get into that. People are just jumping a gun to blame India for a bad stance, since it’s a huge country with a lot of people, that probably has capabilities in voicing the concerns, refusing to trade with RU and profit from it, and yada yada.
I’ve seen you bring a point on historical relevance, and that’s true. India has very little to it, and Lithuania has a lot of it. In fact, so does EU. So it’s important to understand such stances based on historical relevance as well.
What do I think of the answer? It’s what you’d expect. It’s very neutral, but yet you condemn the evils that are being done. And what’s being done is just a grimmy, scary, and devastating reality, that shouldn’t be a reality in the 21st century, and everyone just should strive to stop it, even though it might not be your duty to do so. If the same thing happened to India, I would really hope that Europe were be the first one to help it out.
1. Lithuania needs help from EU to prevent Chinese economic coercion. It doesn’t make sense for LT journalist to ask questions about helping India with China’s problem when in fact we are on the same boat with India.
2. Europe still buys Russian oil, gas every day and has paid already 60B € since the war began.
3. India is not dependant on Russia’s oil like EU. It buys more oil from US than from Russia.
4. Hungary is blocking sanctions that involves Russian resources, blocks military equipment through it’s territory. Makes statements about returning back Transcarpathia region back from Ukraine and Orban recently in it’s re-election said that he considers Zelensky an adversary.
EU is the one that needs to reduce it’s dependancy on Russian resources and suspend Hungary’s EU membership or take it’s voting rights away. On the other hand, India can be critized for recent oil deals with Russia but in the long-term it doesn’t matter because if EU stops buying Russian resources it will collapse.
