No sympathy for the little shitebag tbh, if he wants to attack the guy then I’m all for him defending himself. This is what I always expected it to be, a scrote getting his karma.

As we all suspected when the news first hit of this stabbing that Josh and his friends were not the angles, butter wudnt melt in der moths from the bingo wing dubs whinging on the radio.
From what I’ve read about this trial, it seems like a case of self defense, or at worst, maybe manslaughter. I can’t see how the DPP managed to make this a murder charge. I wonder will it create some kind of precedent for the barrister shooting the dog owner case?
This makes my blood boil, I have worked with teenagers just like this. When they are in groups they are absolutely ruthless ..when they are alone they cry for mommy ,play the victim and abuse the system . This young lad had the intent to hurt someone , it ended up tragically that’s for sure. We all know these types of groups we fear them , we see them and above all we hope we never have an encounter like that with them . Such a shame . I hope that Brazilian man finds peace with himself.
While I do sympathise with deliveroo cyclists and the abuse they sometimes face, the guy was carrying a knife. He obviously was willing to use it and that’s wrong. He probably didn’t intend to kill the boy but he was willing to stab a teenager. How anyone can condone that, I don’t understand.
He was carrying though. You don’t carry a knife with you, unless you’re intending to stick it in someone.
These kids attacking are scrotes for sure but he is an adult he should know better to take a knife out against a load of teenagers once you do that you have created a situation were a fatality is highly possible.

A more reasonable reaction should be to call the Gardai and if you can take photos of the thief to give to them.

Not all his fault be he instigated the confrontation with the youths and he was in east wall Dublin, A very stupid thing to do. The teens were always going to react this way. Very poor judgement on his behalf.
Can’t help but think the lack of a Gardai/Courts punishment for the ongoing attacks on these delivery drivers are the root cause for this.
If it were Irish business men from the southside getting attacked while working it would of been dealt with a long time ago.

Can’t carry a knife. That escalates any potential conflict that may ensue. The law is clear on this.
When that cyclist put that knife in his pocket he was in some way preparing himself to use it as a weapon,(rightly or wrongly). That is why he’s on trial for murder.

Read a couple or versions of this story and if I was on the jury I’d be leaning toward not guilty. Terrible that a young lad died but this sounds like self defence.
Carrying a knife probably puts a different legal light in this but can’t see how this is murder.
In Ireland you can serve time if guards find a knife on you. Your man had a knife. So there is intent .

Jesus… this is terrible. The poor delivery man and the kid. Neither deserved what happened to them. We need people who listen in this country. I find this sub’s reaction to the murder so weird. Here’s my genuine, non-inflammatory understanding of the situation:
The killer is a 36 year old courier who was carrying a blade, and who (along with his 2 mates) started a fight with an Irish guy they suspected of bike theft. It was 3 of them against a single guy.
Then 5 local teenagers joined in on behalf on the Irish guy. Now that _his_ gang was outnumbered, the killer produced a knife/blade in a way that did _not_ serve to de-escalate. He didn’t warn anyone, he didnt shout at them to back off: he just stabbed 3 16-year-olds when he was worried he’d _lose_ the fight. He killed a mixed-race 16-year-old. As far as a BLM vibe goes (formerly popular on this sub?), the killer was white and from a well-off background, the victim was black and disadvantaged.
The killer fled the scene, and went home to his flat. He and his girlfriend booked flights home to Brazil that evening, and tried to get an emergency passport form the Brazilian embassy. His girlfriend was picked up by the gards the next day, and two days later they manage to catch him based on tips from the Brazilian embassy.
Now based on these details alone, I would have been 95% correct that the sub would condemn the killer. And yet… no. There is one user here very tastefully saying they hope the dead teenager is in hell, and _they’re being upvoted_!
What the actual fuck? I live in the north inner city, my partner is non-Irish, and I work in tech. I seem very close to the typical commenter on this thread, but I just… have a completely different instinct here? Like can someone explain what I’m missing or not seeing, this really is a puzzle to me.
