“If I had the chance, I would kill them with my own bare hands.” My interview with Helen, 23, a Ukrainian in revolt, currently living in Poland.

  1. I sincerely hope you enjoy my latest interview, part of a longer series of discussions with Ukrainian émigrés and refugees in Poland. Helen’s story is particularly powerful, and she wonderfully represents the strength and ferocity of the Ukrainian people in the face of aggression. I’m putting together this series to help enlighten American audiences on the humanitarian aspect of the war, and to shed light on the humanity of inhumanity – whether on the part of resilient Ukrainians, or generous Poles.
About myself, I’m a Canadian freelance writer who volunteered at the Shehyni border camp in Ukraine in March, and then proceeded to meet with many incredible Ukrainians in the weeks thereafter while in Poland. I hope to soon return to Warsaw and Kyiv.

  2. Thank you for showing us voices of the people. I cannot put in words how sickening that war is, how cruel the crimes that are being committed. I wish the suffering and oppressed the strength they need to get through this challenging time.
