The Ukrainian women’s national handball team secured its first victory in the Euro-2026 qualifying cycle, defeating Lithuania in a derby by a final score of 30-29 (15-16).

In another Group 5 match, Serbia lost to Sweden 26-29.

After three rounds, the standings are: Sweden – 6 points, Serbia – 4, Ukraine – 2, Lithuania – 0.

At the start of the qualifying tournament, Ukraine’s women’s team suffered defeats to Sweden (25:33) and to Serbia (23:34).

Mid-term results and prospects of the qualification

By April 12, each team will have played six matches in the group.

The final tournament of Euro-2026 will feature the top two teams from each group and the four best third-placed teams across the groups.

Additionally, information has emerged about other aspects of the competition: Ukraine’s women’s handball team has suffered its second defeat in the qualification for the Women’s Euro-2026.

Note that the Women’s European Handball Championship will be hosted for the first time by five countries: Czechia (Brno), Poland (Katowice), Romania (Oradea, Cluj-Napoca), Slovakia (Bratislava) and Turkey (Antalya).

The continental championship will be held from December 3 to 20, 2026.

Ukraine’s national team still has many matches ahead that could alter the standings, so the squad must keep up the pace and continue fighting for the best possible result.
