Greece repatriates 91 from Abu Dhabi

A Greek C-130 transport plane carrying 91 citizens from Abu Dhabi landed Thursday afternoon at Elefsina Airport, part of Greece’s ongoing effort to repatriate nationals from the Middle East.

Television footage showed passengers, including children, disembarking, many visibly emotional. One woman said the flight departed around 1 p.m., while another praised the coordination between Greece’s Foreign and Defense Ministries and the Greek embassy in the UAE.

From Elefsina, passengers were taken by bus to central Athens before traveling to their home regions.

Another 162 Greeks have already been repatriated from Oman, Bethlehem and the UAE.
