Rishi Sunak’s ‘obscene’ tax relief for fossil fuel firms will ‘cost taxpayer £1.9bn a year’

  1. So fossil fuel investors now know if they raise the price they’ll get tax breaks and lower climate change regulations.

“the market”: I’m gonna do what’s called a pro-gamer move.

  2. Now it’s coming into the light,of why Sunak did the windfall tax,it wasn’t to help the people,it was a slight of hand to give the rich another tax incentive, what a surprise

  3. To be fair £1.9bn a year is fuck all when you compare it to many of the corrupt procurement schemes this government has invested in.

  4. Constantly trying to back wind and solar is having a terrible effect on the environment and everyone generally, correct.

  5. Look, it’s his balancing act.

He’s giving us £400. He’s windfall taxing the oil Companies.

They’re whining that it will effect investment. He’s saying, ‘ok, if you do invest, you get a subsidy’.

The only criticism to be made is that the subsidy should have been for green projects.

  6. A question maybe someone can answer:the money they’re supposedly giving us to help with the energy costs, does that only apply to fixed bills as I use key and card to top up mine?

  7. Rishsi is a scumbag, but the normal folks don’t fund elections like big corps do !!

Big red busses with lies on the side are the way they deliver for the benefactors of greed.

  8. Obscene is a really good description of this Tory / Facist dictatorship. They will all be wearing tailored uniforms next made by Hugo Boss.

  9. And also their lives when we have failed to prevent or prepare for the catastrophic end of a stable climate.

  10. But will earn him and his investors tens of millions in the form of bribes from said fuel firms, and to Tory voters, that’s all the matters!!

  11. I feel like the tories know they’re gone come the next election so they’re just trying to set some fucked up high score.

  12. It’s okay though because the slippy rat is going to give us all £400 to cover the now £700 increase in fuel bills..

  13. I think the thing I hate most about this shit is how transparently arrogant they are about it. We can’t do anything or complain and they know it.

  14. See, those Tories always thinking of scamming the general public out of money one way or another. They give you something in one hand( that they didn’t want to do) so they take it back with the other hand l, just to make sure there families & friends won’t lose out in anyway what do ever.

  15. The article is completely financially illiterate – the new deduction is only against the new tax, so they can’t possibly now be in a better position that they were.

It even says in the article that they just have compared the 46p relief they would previously have got, with the 91p relief they would now get. But they only get the extra 45p if they have paid an extra 45p! Embarrassing.

  16. It feels like just yesterday people were falling over themselves to anoint this little goblin as future PM because he didn’t shit his pants during a speech.

  17. Hey just remember, that £400 we’re “getting” is also just going straight to those same energy companies.
