“According to our data, a total of 170 passengers arrived, but only 49 of them were Lithuanian citizens. Sixty-nine were Polish citizens, while others were from Estonia, the Netherlands and several other countries,” Darius Buta told LRT Radio.

He added that the NKVC plans to contact the low-cost airline to enable other Lithuanians currently in the UAE to return to Lithuania.

“We will contact flydubai and clarify the procedure so that both we and our citizens in the war zone know how they can use this service,” he said. “We expect there will be more than one such flight in the near future.”

Speaking about a state-organised evacuation flight for Lithuanian citizens, Buta said the authorities would provide more information soon.

“At the moment, procedures for selecting the company that will operate the flights are being finalised. As soon as they are completed and we have a contract, we will immediately inform the public,” the NKVC adviser said.
