Mongolia-Finland Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation holds meeting in Helsinki

AKIPRESS.COM – The 15th meeting of the Mongolia–Finland Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation was held in Helsinki on March 5, Montsame reported.
The Mongolian side of the commission was headed by Minister of Education Naranbayar Purevsuren, while the Finnish side was led by Under-Secretary of State for International Trade at Ministry for Foreign Affairs Jarno Syrjälä.
During the 15th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, the two sides held detailed discussions on boosting bilateral trade and economic relations and expanding cooperation in several sectors, including environment, forestry, renewable energy, science, culture, education, innovation, information technology, and geology.
In particular, the sides proposed implementing an exchange program for researchers, scholars, and teachers in the field of teacher education. They also discussed establishing connections between information technology organizations to start cooperation, developing winter tourism based on Mongolia’s historical and cultural heritage sites, and organizing meetings and events for business representatives and investors from both countries.
Other proposals included introducing standards and solutions for energy-efficient buildings with low heat loss and supporting the redevelopment of ger districts in Ulaanbaatar.
The Mongolian side also introduced the country’s long- and medium-term development policies and the major goals included in the government’s 2024–2028 action program. In addition, they presented the “Billions of Trees” national movement and the “President’s Scholars-2100” scholarship program, and exchanged views with the Finnish side on opportunities for effective cooperation in these areas.
At the end of the meeting, the parties signed a protocol of the 15th Intergovernmental Commission meeting.
