  1. “He said it was unknown in Irish law for a person to be convicted of an offence without being aware they were committing an offence.”

The best the defense could come up with. I wonder if I can just stop paying taxes and tell Revenue I wasn’t aware it was an offence. Hope she gets a decent sentence.

  2. Finally. I wonder what type of sentence she’ll get. It’s scary how so many of these brides just expected to be let back with little to no consequences.

I’m glad not too many Irish seem to have gone over.

  3. She got bail until her sentencing hearing. I wonder did anyone found guilty of membership of the IRA ever get bail after conviction.

  4. Ireland, the only country in the world where a judge can find you guilty of joining a terrorist organisation whilst simultaneously saying you’re not guilty of funding terrorism because he can’t be sure you weren’t sending money to said terrorist group you joined, for charity reasons.

  5. Anyone know what the mandatory – maximum sentencing range is for people convicted of membership of a terrorist organisation?

  6. I’m taking bets for a suspended sentence and she won’t see any repercussions.

Then in 10 years time someone will go on a machete spree and that person will be connected to Lisa Smith.

If she doesn’t get even a year in prison then we may as well just give up now and end ourselves.

Whats the point in following the law if everyone who breaks the law gets a suspended sentence???

  7. Genuine question here, genuinely not trying to make any sort of a point. But how does one ‘join’ ISIS? All that’s said in the article is that she travelled to Syria
