The flight, operated by flydubai, is scheduled to depart Dubai at around 1 p.m., according to the Foreign Ministry’s chancellor.
“There should be over 100 Lithuanians onboard. Since this is a European model, there will be citizens of other countries on the same plane, too,” Aistė Stakėnienė told LRT Radio on Friday.
She said the most vulnerable evacuees would not have to pay for the flight.
“Under this model, 75% of the cost is covered by the EU and 25% by Lithuania. This group will not have to pay,” she said.
According to the ministry, around 1,100 Lithuanian citizens are currently in the Middle East, including about 800 in the UAE.
Stakėnienė added that others would be able to return in the coming days on commercial flights as airspace gradually reopens.
“A commercial flight is scheduled for tomorrow, with all information available on our official page. A GetJet flight is expected to depart on 7 March,” she said.
