Media under the control of the Taliban reported that 62 migrant families were returned to the country yesterday.

The Bakhtar News Agency, under the control of the Taliban, reported on Saturday, 7 March, that 28 families returned to the country through the Pol-e-Abrisham in Nimroz, 18 families through the Islam Qala Border in Herat, and 16 families through the Spin Buldak Border in Kandahar.

The United Nations says that only 11 percent of returnees are employed.

Two days earlier, more than 1,000 families had also returned to the country.

The United Nations says that 2.8 million Afghan migrants returned to the country from Iran and Pakistan in 2025.

Arafat Jamal, the International Organization for Migration’s representative in Afghanistan, said at a press conference on Friday, 13 February, that since October 2023, 5.4 million people have returned to Afghanistan, most of them from Pakistan and Iran.
