Air gun shootings: Two cats die in Pembrokeshire

  1. My blood has suddenly turned to gas plasma. I am not allowed to state what I would do to the perpetrator of this act on this site but it would involve a large quantity of salt.

  2. With the slaughter of small birds and animals that cats perpetrate, I am amazed so few get killed. Certainly an animal court would sentence many cats to death.

House arrest is preferred. Why do so few enforce this, rather than let the murderers out to kill for sport.

  3. Keep your cats indoors and cat proof YOUR garden.

They are a danger to pregnant women, wildlife and a nuisance in the garden.

Time for cat owners to take some responsibility for their pets.

  4. Some talk here about “well what about the local birds” as if that’s a justifications. Someone possible untrained and/or acting maliciously is targeting animals that are pets, with a air rifle. This may not be linked to anything to do with protecting local bird and is definitely breaking the law.

From the home office guidance https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/650548/air-weapons-a-brief-guide-to-safety.pdf:

“It is an offence to have an air weapon with intent to endanger life, as well as intent to damage or to destroy property, or to be reckless as to whether property would be damaged or destroyed. It is also against the law to deliberately kill pets, certain wild animals and birds.”

This is very worrying behaviour, distressing to the owners and other family in the affected area.

If you think randomly shooting cats is justified to protect wild bird population. Then direct that energy at conservation for wild birds in your local area to do some actually help. Then take a good long look at yourself when you think a random person with a air rifle shooting other people’s pets is a good thing in the UK.
