The Austrian embassy in Tehran was relocated to the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, in light of the ongoing Israeli-American attacks on Iran, Foreign Ministry spokesman Clemens Mantl announced in Vienna on Saturday. Consular operations have been suspended until further notice.
Mantl also said there is no longer any need for repatriation flights from the Middle East crisis region organized by the Foreign Ministry.
The Foreign Ministry strongly recommends using available scheduled flights from Riyadh or Doha. So far, over 800 people have been repatriated to Austria from Oman, Saudi Arabia and the UAE on four organized flights. A further 62 Austrian citizens were assisted with their return journey through the EU crisis response mechanism, Mantl said.
