World’s top graduates get new UK visa option

  1. Come to the UK we’ll let you stay for three whole years! If you work outside of IT you might even strike lucky and pass the £40k mark! Untold riches I tell thee.

  2. But why would anyone want to come to a cold, wet, dreary country full of people who openly hate you for being foreign, for the promise of a mediocre quality of life and low pay?

  3. What a restrictive idea. 2 or 3 years from 37 universities.

There is no fucking difference between the top 50 and top 100 or even lower universities in terms of the quality of education. So you simultaneously reject exceptional candidates from no. 51 and accept candidates from no. 50 that are nothing special.

I can not imagine that this will bring in a significant amount of people to the UK.

  4. Dunno if the folks that developed this plan would check Reddit, but this does put disproportionate emphasis on US Ivy League. IMHO extending this to the top 100 institutions globally would unlock a far more diverse and motivated pool for employers.

  5. I’d rather have this nice visa option for countries outside of the UK. I am sick to death of this horrible political climate the country is embedded in. I want to leave. I have a so-called “top graduate” degree, get me out of here!

  6. That’s because South Asian, LatAm and African universities are villages with huts made out of shit, those degrees aren’t real.

  7. This is the most pretentious shit ever. The only use for university rankings is for competitive parents who want to brag to each other. The 51st ranked college offers like a 1% different education than the #1 ranked university.
