Maybe if they didn’t pay minimum wage with 12 hour shifts and terrible hours this wouldn’t happen
Jaysus. They said it was getting better. Wtf is this now. How is no one held accountable for this?
Is it too much to ask for SOMETHING to work well in this country?
Can someone give me the low down of what is actually happening there?
I was hoping this was photo shop 🙁
This the crowd for the bare knuckle?
I’m flying next month and I’m terrified about this. It’s an early morning flight so we might just show up the night before.
Is this just weekend madness or every day. I’m flyin out tomorrow and have no idea how early I should be at this stage. Do I go 4 hours early and just suffer with the kids waiting around if it isn’t bad or risk it and go 2 hour and hope for the best.
I know it’s bad if you want to take a flight, but honestly I love to see this. So many things in this country only work because workers, for years, have worked too hard for too little. Dublin airport won’t fucking function until it can pay its workers a living wage. I hope for all of us that happens sooner, rather than later.
I am flying next Friday to Brussels at 6.30 am… I am not sure at what time arrive to Dublin. I don’t have to check in, but I don’t know if that makes any difference :/
Is this the que for bag drop or security or what? I’m flying in a few days and because of work can only get there 4 hours before my flight…
For people travelling to Dublin, what should they expect? Be prepared and expect 1-2 hour delays?
We haven’t even hit peak holiday season yet. Its gonna get a lot worse…
Flying to the US next week. Granted it’s out of terminal 2 but Jesus this doesn’t bode well.
Why is this happening? The last 10 times or so I flew from Dublin Airport this never happened? Last time I flew in August last year
Edit: Someone gave a rundown in the comments. Greedy captialist pig is what happened, should have known
I’m currently in salou, getting sent back to a hotel for the night. Our flight was cancelled to Dublin
The security for T2 was an absolute shitshow. Spent 2 hours I’d say.
And you’d some cunt stroll through the whole thing and no one stopped him. He had his ticket scanned and off he popped. All the yanks started clapping him too.
Cunt.
Why are there so many queues and why are there so many issues with Dublin Airport in the recent months? I guess I will use Shannon Airport this Summer.
Sure at least it’s not raining
I was in Frankfurt airport recently for aerlingus Monday morning flight to Dublin. Strolled through 2 hours before flight, straight from train to boarding ,13 staff at security check in , no queuing whatsoever. DAA and treating people like animals.
I’m flying out next Wednesday, god help me…
Missed my flight this morning, crowd were getting very restless, nightmare
I have a flight this afternoon around 4pm, with a crowd like this…what time am I supposed to even get there?
Edit: Made it!
For those curious, I arrived at about 12:45 for a 4:15 flight.
Checking in: 1 hour 15 minutes
Security: About an hour
US Pre-clearance: 15 minutes
How have heads of management not rolled yet in the poxy DAA ?
It’s worse now. The queue now goes down to outside terminal 2
Friends just missed their flight now, they have been standing in queue outside the airport for over 3 hours. Will anyone catch their flights today?
Dublin Airport quoting 30 minutes wait time 😂
Why didn’t I book my flights from Cork…
Only beaten by Kerry airport in terms of comfort.
Oh God, I’m heading there tomorrow morning early. Dreading it.
Flew out Thursday to the US, it was a fucking shitshow. We got there four hours early and still only made our flight because it was delayed by an hour, stuck in a barely moving US pre clearance queue in a fucking roasting room full of other sweaty pissed off people alone for over half of that. We’d booked 51s & Green as a treat and never got near the place, 140eur down the swanney.
Advising people to rebook flights? That shouldn’t even be a fucking option. People have booked time off work, budgeted their money, planned their childcare, organised their transport. I’m meant to flying to Brussels Friday morning with Ryanair for a wedding on the Saturday. If I don’t get on that flight on Friday, I can’t fly out til the Monday and sure at that point the wedding is obviously over. Heads need to roll over this, it’s a disgrace
I was in that queue. It took two hours to get to the entrance, then they wouldn’t let anyone into the airport. At 10am, people were being told that they had already missed any flights before 12:15. A crowd surge got us into the airport.
We went straight to security and made our flight (which ended up being 30 mins delayed). All the gates inside the airport are full of people from earlier flights trying to change to later flights (and paying for them).
We arrived at the airport at 08:30, finished getting through security at 11:15. Our flight was at 11:50. It’s 12:30 and the plane is still on the tarmac.
Edit: flight ended up being delayed by almost an hour. Scheduled for 11:50, took off at 12:45. Baggage belts at Stansted airport were full of unclaimed luggage. Absolute madness!
4 hour queue for security.. just boarded. The queue actually left the terminal and went out through the car park and back in, like a demented conga line.
God forbid you might want a widdle… or worse!!
Who could have predicted that the busiest airport in the country, in one of the most expensive cities to live in Europe would struggle because of staffing shortages due to low paying positions with poor conditions following 2 years of travel restrictions could possibly have resulted in this…
It’s remarkable the chief executive of DAA is still in place.
A country where nobody in any position of authority is ever held accountable for anything.
I am glad I turned down a job a Dublin airport
What an absolute joke. It seems like an absolute mess at the moment with your security wait time being pot luck.
I flew twice through Dublin in the past two months and both times I breezed through in about 10-15 minutes total but then I’ve also seen loads of pics like this around the same time.
Laughs in Shannon Airport
This countries so shite we can’t even leave it.
Pay your fucking staff properly, and change the cleaning contract while you’re at it.
This is also what you get when you funnel flights away from Shannon and Cork and everyone must fly from Dublin.
Delighted for the DAA, this is the result of treating their staff like shite and cutting the routes from the regional airports.
Gobshites.
The management at Dublin airport should be fired and replaced by competent people. To suggest “book new flights” is a disgrace. What about work time off, minders, hotels?
Sitting in Munich and the flight here to Dublin is delayed because the flight out was delayed, because the DAA can’t operate an airport!
The plague of their incompetence is going international now!
If only there was some way they could know in advance how many people would be flying out that day and then prepare accordingly. Like if people would book their tickets in advance instead of just showing up at the doorstep. And of they would help move people through by offering realistically paying jobs with proper hours and filling positions instead of embarrassing the country at an international level.
