The International Monetary Fund said that its staff team has held discussions with officials from Gabon on the country’s economic situation and policy direction.

According to the IMF, the talks focused on recent macroeconomic developments as well as the government’s plans to promote economic growth.

Officials from both sides also discussed policy measures aimed at strengthening the country’s economy and supporting long-term development.

During the meetings, attention was given to reforms being carried out to improve the management of public finances and strengthen governance.

The IMF said, “these reforms are important for ensuring transparency, efficiency and better use of public resources”.

The discussions also stressed the importance of maintaining careful fiscal and financial policies.

The IMF noted that such measures are necessary to protect economic stability in Gabon and across the wider region.

The fund said it would continue to work closely with the Gabonese authorities as they pursue reforms and policies aimed at supporting sustainable growth and maintaining macroeconomic stability.
