It never fails to make me smile whenever I see one of our fellows make a mark on history like this 🙂

  1. Listened to a Doc on 1 about her while flying to London a few years ago. Think they declared her hysterical or something and she ended up in a mental institute

  2. Did she ever actually show any coherent anti-fascist reasoning? I thought she was just mentally unwell for most of her life.

  3. “The assassination attempt triggered a wave of popular support for Mussolini, resulting in much oppressive legislation, consolidating his control of Italy.”

    Made some mark alright

  4. Lisa O’Neill has a great tune named after her. She also has interesting perspective on how history tells Violet’s story.

  5. Why do insane people always look so young?
Is it because when you’re not mentally right you don’t worry about all the shit that makes you look old?

Like your stuck here with depression n can’t get a text back.. she’s off her but a century ago Without modern healthcare and could pass for a decade younger?

  6. In our history book in 3rd year there was a little “Did you know” bubble that always stuck out to me. It said something along the lines of “Musolini survived an attempted assassination from a Irish woman, the bullet she fired from close range just grazed his nose.”

And even as a kid all I kept thinking was “why isn’t that something we actually learn about instead of a did you know”?

I guess if she actually killed him we would have learned all about it.

  7. I never heard of her and I studied history and she tried to make history – she did not succeed therefore she did not really make a mark on history.

  8. Benito Mussolini: ciao signora, come stai oggi?

Violet Gibson: Whats dat? are you speakin GREEK!? THEY INVENTED GHEYS! STEALING OUR WOMENS! ‘smashes bottle’ I’LL KILL YOU, YOU!!!…

    Benito Mussolini: D:
