Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković marked International Women’s Day on Sunday by praising the contributions of women to society and reaffirming the government’s commitment to gender equality and the fight against discrimination.

In a message published on the social media platform X, Plenković congratulated women across Croatia and highlighted the important role they play in shaping the country’s social and economic life.

“On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Croatia and personally, I sincerely congratulate all women on International Women’s Day,” the prime minister wrote. “Through their work, innovation and influence, women make our society better and stronger.”

Commitment to Greater Representation

Plenković emphasized that the government remains committed to promoting gender equality and increasing the representation of women in public life. This includes encouraging greater participation of women in politics as well as in leadership roles within corporations and state institutions.

According to the prime minister, strengthening women’s presence in decision-making positions remains an important priority for the country.

Focus on Combating Discrimination and Violence

The Croatian government, he added, is determined to condemn and combat all forms of discrimination against women.

Plenković also underlined the importance of continued efforts to address violence against women, describing it as a key issue requiring ongoing attention from institutions and society alike.

International Women’s Day, celebrated each year on March 8, highlights the achievements of women around the world while also drawing attention to the challenges that remain in the pursuit of equality and equal opportunities.
