Not engaging in dialogue with China would be a geopolitical mistake, said U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio at the Munich Security Conference, APA reports.
“Not entering into dialogue with China would be a geopolitical mistake. Our national interests often do not overlap. The United States expects every country to act within the framework of its own interests, including China. The purpose of diplomacy is to continue dialogue peacefully and properly when our national interests clash,” Rubio stated.
Speaking about the Russia-Ukraine war, the U.S. Secretary of State said he does not know whether Russia is serious about ending the war.
“We do not know whether they are serious. They say they are serious. We will continue to test that,” the top U.S. diplomat noted.
